Hold on. The landscape of marriage in this country may very well change forever this fall. The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments this April 2015 on whether same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry or whether states are allowed to pass laws banning gay marriage. Not only is the issue of gay rights squarely before the court but so is the issue of whether or not the federal government has the power to override laws passed by the States. Currently 36 states and the District of Columbia allow gay marriage. While only 3.5% of American identify themselves as gay, lesbian or bisexual, 55% of Americans thing gay marriage should be legal. This is shaping up to be a hard fought battle resulting in a potential landmark case. Hold on because whether you are ready or not a ruling is imminent.
